In this talk, we will review the origin and evolution of surveillance and privacy, which are two sides of the same coin. We will discuss how the meaning and daily practices of surveillance and privacy have transformed with the rapid development and widespread adoption of digital technology, and what these mean to individuals, organisations and institutions. With the advent of an increasingly datafied and virtualised digital era, we invite you to explore the question whether privacy is still important, and possible.
